Newcastle United Neil Robson

One early game that really sticks out is a 4-1 home defeat at the hands of Fulham, when the NUFC goalkeeper played most of the game with a badly injured and bloody knee (no sub goalies in these days), this would have been Martin Thomas.

Anyway, we got humped 4-1 at home and I remember the anger and upset in the stands, but I think this is the day I fell in love with Newcastle United. I remember the smell of the hops from the old brewery across the road that used to fill the city air with its distinct smell, even though most outside of Newcastle hated that smell I think all of us who were around at the time used to love that smell, I remember the noise of the bloke who used to do the red Indian war cry at every game from then on I was hooked.

Newcastle United Foundation have a heritage project for fans of all ages called Toon Times.

Toon Times will culminate with a major Newcastle United exhibition at the Discovery Museum, Newcastle, although in the lead up to this event Toon Times wishes to reach out to all Newcastle United fans across the North East and further afield to get involved and share their memories, experiences, photos and memorabilia what people have collected over the years.

We are supporting the project by helping to collect NUFC memories online - fans can share their memories on the Replay Football website, simply select the Toon Times tag when submitting yours.
